Over the three months that I have been keeping these records, WPF jobs have risen by about 50% on Dice (57 - 87) and by 400% on Monster (25 - 104).? Over the same period, C# jobs on Dice have risen by 14% (6631 - 7541) overall but declined by 4% (250 - 239) in Silicon Valley.?

Back in San Jose now after my trip to Chile and Bolivia.?

One of the most fascinating aspects of this trip was the Yungas Death Road.? For many years this road had the (justified) reputation of being the most dangerous road in the world. Check out some fascinating photos here, ? here ? and here?

Yungas Death Road Truck View From Above

Due to the recent opening of a new, safe, paved, two lane highway that bypasses the Death Road, it has now been turned into a beautiful (and not particularly dangerous) hiking and mountain biking trail. I hitched a ride with one of the mountain biking support busses and descended for about 4 - 5 Km.? During the three hours I was walking on the road I saw two trucks, two motorcyclists, about 50 mountain bikers and about half a dozen of the biking support vehicles.? All were driving in the direction from La Paz to Coroico.? So while I was able to hitch a ride in the northbound direction (downhill), my entire return was on foot (uphill). It wasn’t nearly as steep as the Bright Angel path coming up from the bottom of the Grand Canyon but it was nevertheless an effort — compounded by the high altitude (approximately 4,000 meters) and lack of oxygen.?

The real danger on this road is the fact that it is only one lane wide and with numerous turns and no guard rails one could easily encounter oncoming traffic at the most inopportune time. Add in a little fog,? patches of ? muddy ground, a little? sleep deprivation and even some alchohol and pretty soon you can get a fairly exciting mix.

Advance alert:? Yungas Death Road XBAP.?

Anyway, here are this week’s figures from Dice for progress in job postings for C# and WPF:

WPF All of Dice: 81
Silicon Valley: 3

Blend All of Dice: 2
Silicon Valley: 0

C# All of Dice: 7346
Silicon Valley: 240

No appreciable change from a week ago.?

The following represents an interesting posting entitled “WPF Rock Star”?

Slipped a couple of days this week as I’m down in Santiago Chile at the moment.? On Tuesday I’m meeting with some Microsoft clients regarding WPF.?

Atacama Desert View from Iquique Airport

My flight stopped in Iquique on the way down from La Paz (Bolivia).? Since everyone had to deplane, I managed to take a few photos of the surrounding area.? A friend commented that these photos make the Mojave Desert look like a rain forest.? Some parts of the Atacama Desert haven’t had any rain in thousands of years.? Others get rain approximately every 6 - 7 years and then bloom for a couple of months.? But from where I stood you couldn’t see a blade of grass in any direction.?

Anyway, here are this week’s figures from Dice for progress in job postings for C# and WPF:

WPF All of Dice: 83
Silicon Valley: 4

Blend All of Dice: 1
Silicon Valley: 0

C# All of Dice: 7431
Silicon Valley: 238

All figures down just slightly from a week ago.?
